Climate

The route is mostly exposed to the sun and wind. Strong winds may occur along the ridge during the dry season, while the trail can become muddy and slippery during the rainy season. Clouds and rainfall can also quickly reduce visibility.

Area and surroundings

Open mountain ridge with grassy slopes, narrow dirt trails, inclines, uneven sections, and little shade. Much of the route is exposed to the sun and wind, and the terrain can become slippery when wet.

Nature

The landscape is dominated by grassy hills and a mountain ridge offering open views in several directions. Along the route, visitors can see the mountains surrounding El Valle de Antón, forested areas, and extensive lowland landscapes. The combination of open terrain and elevation makes the site an excellent place for sightseeing and photographing sunrises and sunsets.

Practical tips

Bring enough water, sunscreen, a hat, and closed footwear with good traction. There is little shade along the route. Be cautious of strong winds on the ridge and avoid getting unnecessarily close to steep slopes. After rainfall, walk carefully because the terrain may be muddy and slippery. Plan to complete your visit within the established opening hours.

How to get there

From El Valle de Antón, take the road toward La Ermita and continue toward the Cerro La Silla access. The final section follows an unpaved secondary road that may have steep sections, rocks, ruts, and uneven conditions. A 4x4 vehicle can reach closer to the trailhead. If traveling in a lower-clearance vehicle, it is advisable to park where road conditions allow and complete a larger portion of the approach on foot.
