History
The Veracruz area is part of a coastal territory whose history predates the development of the modern community. Archaeological evidence documented within the corregimiento reflects pre-Hispanic human occupation along this part of the Panama Oeste coastline. Over time, Veracruz developed as a community connected to the sea and fishing, and later to the growth of the metropolitan area and nearby former military installations. Today, its beach, restaurants, and the activities of its residents remain important elements of local identity.
