History
Metropolitan Natural Park was created through Law No. 8 of July 5, 1985, following several years of proposals to protect these lands within Panama City. The area had previously formed part of territory associated with the former Canal Zone and contained military facilities during the twentieth century. Its founding law established a Board of Trustees as its management model, bringing together public institutions and civil society organizations. In 2024, MiAMBIENTE formally adopted the park's Public Use Plan to guide visitor activities sustainably.
